Suomen Bioetanoli Oy received a grant from the government of Finland to help build a plant that will convert wheat straw into about 24 million gallons of ethanol annually.

Poet-DSM Advanced Biofuels, which started a cellulosic plant in Iowa earlier this year, is working with Suomen Bioetanoli Oy on how to utilize process, yeast and enzyme technology from the respective companies for conversion of cellulose to bioethanol.

DSM is based in the Netherlands.
