Two of President Biden’s top administration officials promoted his agenda for an aggressive increase in electric vehicles on America’s roads. Declaring “the future is electric” and internal combustion vehicles are “so yesterday,” Biden’s top climate adviser Gina McCarthy and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg toured a handful of electric vehicles and charging equipment gathered at the Department of Transportation’s headquarters, blocks from the Capitol building, and cheered the industry’s accomplishments. McCarthy and Buttigieg sought to light a fire under lawmakers and argue that the billions of dollars in electric vehicle and charging funds in those bills are at risk.
