The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) points out that consumers, farmers and renewable fuel producers will be harmed if the EPA’s proposal moves forward. In a news release issued by the IRFA, Governor Branstad stated that Iowa’s economy and family farms will suffer as a result of the proposal. “Corn prices have already dropped to the cost of production, and this will likely further squeeze corn producers and negatively impact income growth in rural America.”
Governor Branstad will join Senator Chuck Grassley tomorrow, November 22, at Lincolnway Energy, Nevada, Iowa, to shed light on the negative impact of the EPA’s proposal. The “Defend the RFS” event is being organized by the Iowa RFS Coalition, and starts at 1:00 p.m. For more information, contact Monte Shaw at IRFA, Tel. 515-252-6249. mshaw@IowaRFA.org.
The event will also feature representatives from the ethanol and biodiesel industry, and the Iowa Corn Growers.
