USDA said domestic ethanol production would increase in the next few years but decline over the rest of the 10-year period ending in 2027. In its Agricultural Projection, the department said a decline in overall domestic gasoline consumption, along with ethanol’s inability to capture much more than 10 percent of the overall fuel market, will ultimately lead to a drop in production. It said exports would increase a little, but not enough to compensate for a lack of domestic demand.
