Ethanol industry groups last week voiced disappointment that the Biden administration’s latest plan for bringing down gasoline prices failed to include one of their key policy objectives – year-round access to E15 blends. In an early afternoon press conference, President Joe Biden said the administration will release 180 million barrels of crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) – the largest release in the program’s history – over the next six months try to reduce gasoline and diesel prices that have surged since Russia invaded Ukraine in late February.¬†Ethanol groups ‚Ķ wasted little time in criticizing the administration’s silence on the higher ethanol blend. “Doubling down on petroleum dependence is not an economically or environmentally sustainable solution for lower gas prices and it completely undermines this administration’s ambitious climate objectives,” Geoff Cooper, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) said in a statement.
