The Renewable Fuels Association has hired Rachel Gantz, a journalist with experience covering biofuels, as its communications director.

Gantz, most recently a senior reporter at the Oil Price Information Service, will focus on expanding the RFA’s exposure in the media, the association said in a news release. She starts the new job Monday.

In nearly 17 years as a reporter, Gantz also worked at Hart Energy Publishing’s Oxy Fuel News and at Argus Media’s Air Daily, where she covered biofuels and air emissions.

In a news release, the RFA cited her familiarity with ethanol industry issues, marketplace priorities and personalities.

The RFA represents ethanol producers such as DuPont Cellulosic Ethanol and associate members such as Monsanto Co. It actively pushes for the federal renewable fuels standard, which it has called one of the most successful energy policies ever enacted in the United States.
