The award is being made under USDA Rural Development’s Rural Energy for America Program. The grant program helps farmers, ranches, and rural businesses implement energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.
The announcement was made on Aug. 16 by Sens. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D, and John Hoeven, R-N.D.
“North Dakotans understand what it means to implement a true all-of-the-above energy strategy,” said Heitkamp. “In North Dakota, we have wind, coal, natural gas, and biofuels among other sources that support good-paying jobs, create affordable energy, and keep our nation moving. This federal funding will support the expansion of the ethanol plant in Casselton that produces the fuels to meet our energy demands.”
“Earlier this year, Tharaldson Ethanol produced their one billionth gallon of ethanol,” Hoeven said. “They continue to grow, and with Tharaldson Ethanol’s new expansion, they will be able to help meet the increasing energy needs of our state and nation.”
