“I am hopeful that 2017 will be another year where transformational change will occur within the ethanol industry. This is a dynamic industry and we need to build on the things in the past,” Daschle said during his speech. “We need to work collaboratively to achieve future growth in the ethanol industry and ensure clean air for all.”
Those in attendance also heard from Nick Bowdish, President and CEO of Siouxland Ethanol about the completion of the recent expansion which has resulted in an increase in production to 80 million gallons a year. Pam Miller, board chair for Siouxland Ethanol and Director of Industry and Investor Relations, shared information about efforts to work with auto technicians and retailers to support and promote higher levels of ethanol.
A special guest for the evening was Orrie Swayze from the Watertown, SD area. Swayze, a long time friend of Sen. Daschle, has been a proponent of the ethanol industry and has led efforts toward the usage of higher levels of ethanol, especially E30.
