Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will visit South Dakota on Thursday morning.

An initial schedule from the Department of Agriculture indicates Perdue will visit several locations in the Sioux Falls area. He will:

  • Tour the Poet ethanol plant in Chancellor and hold a roundtable with ethanol and corn growers;
  • Visit Poppens Farm in Lennox and hold a town hall with producers;
  • Visit Brandon Valley Intermediate School in Brandon, where he’ll participate in a pep rally and serve lunch.

Perdue will be joined on the tour by Senator Mike Rounds and Congresswoman Kristi Noem. The secretary will also take questions from media at the events.

As a Trump Cabinet member and head of the USDA, Perdue is an important voice on policymaking for many important issues related to South Dakota’s economy, including ethanol rules, farm policy and trade disputes.
