Biofuel groups have again stepped up their lobbying campaign to protect federal fuel-blending mandates, following reports that petroleum industry allies are pushing the Biden administration to ease some of the requirements. In a letter to EPA Administrator Michael Regan and Brian Deese, director of the National Economic Council, biofuel industry groups encouraged the administration to disregard claims that biofuel requirements are hurting petroleum refiners. “We encourage administration officials to take a hard look at oil refinery earnings reports and east coast refining margins to fully appreciate the truth behind false claims of economic hardship,” said the groups, including Growth Energy, the Renewable Fuels Association and the National Corn Growers Association.
