Pompeo visits Des Moines to talk agriculture

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be in Des Moines, Iowa, today for a series of events intended to highlight the economic importance of agriculture and the State Department’s role in promoting U.S. exports.

Pompeo will speak to FFA members at a suburban high school, tour a Corteva Agriscience research facility, and address farmers and agribusiness leaders at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates in downtown Des Moines. He also will meet with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.

Accompanying Pompeo on his trip will be Ambassador to China and former Iowa governor Terry Branstad.

The World Food Prize event will be live-streamed at state.gov at 5 p.m. CST.
