Oregon fuel retailers will be able to offer customers gasoline blended with 15% ethanol beginning in January 2022 after the state government on Thursday finalized a rule allowing for sale of the higher blend. The rule comes after Oregon Gov. Kate Brown in late June signed legislation that made the state the 48th to allow retail sales of E15. The sale of the higher ethanol blend is still not permitted in California, Montana and in certain counties in Arizona. Geoff Cooper, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA), told OPIS on Thursday that the ethanol industry group is “excited to officially welcome Oregon to the ‘E15 Club.’ This action will ensure Oregon’s drivers have access to lower-cost, lower-carbon fuel options at the pump and it will help facilitate achievement of the state’s Clean Fuels Standard,” Cooper said.
