NEW YORK — The American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) group said it has filed a motion to intervene to support the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in a challenge against the biofuels program from U.S. biofuel and agricultural groups.

AFPM, which represents oil companies, stands by EPA’s authority to reduce biofuels requirements from volumes established by Congress in 2007, the group said in a statement on its website.

A group of seven trade associations on Friday filed a petition for a U.S. court to review the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) for 2014, 2015, and 2016, challenging the EPA’s authority to cut the volumes.
