Berkeley may slap global warming warnings on its gas pumps

“It’s a perfect opportunity to remind people that there are greenhouse gas impacts and there are alternatives,” said Councilman Kriss Worthington, who backed a preliminary measure but then decided to send it to both commissions to consider “all possible objections” from the petroleum industry. The stickers would include a statement reminding consumers that California “has determined that global warming caused by CO2 emissions poses a serious threat to the economic well-being, public health, natural resources and the environment of California.” [ read more … ]

Higher Ethanol Blends Campaign Expands

The 4th annual Alternative Fuel Road Show is kicking off in Georgia to educate consumers about the benefits of higher blends of ethanol. The FlexFuel Awareness Campaign is sponsored in part by Growth Energy, the Kansas and Nebraska Corn and Ethanol Boards along with several others. The roadshow is the largest clean fuel vehicle educational tour and is designed to reach fleet managers, civic leaders and state legislators to help them make informed decisions about transitioning to clean, alternative fuels. Ethanol company names former Valero executive to its board

The nation’s fourth largest ethanol producer today appointed a former Valero Energy Corp. executive to its board of directors. Green Plains Inc. said in a statement that Gene Edwards would be a “solid addition” to the board because of his experience in the oil and gas industry and in managerial positions. Edwards spent 32 years at Valero before retiring in April. He most recently served as executive vice president and chief development officer at the oil giant. [ read more … ]
