Ethanol supporters target Washington to promote industry

As Congress considers legislation to repeal or change the country‚Äôs renewable fuel policy, members of the largest ethanol trade group are flocking to Washington this week to promote their industry and rebuke attacks from oil companies they say are trying to quell demand for their product. Nearly 150 members of Growth Energy are in Washington for three days of meetings with House and Senate lawmakers and members of the Obama administration to talk about the corn-based fuel. My my, hey hey — Neil Young says ethanol-powered cars are here to stay

For the last two and a half weeks, rock star Neil Young has been driving across the United States in a 1959 Lincoln that he had converted to be powered by electricity and biofuels. Young’s trip in the “LincVolt” took him across most of the states between the West and East coasts, with a stop up in Alberta, Canada, to visit major oil production regions. The trip culminated in a rally yesterday in Washington, D.C., where Young told a group of farmers and ethanol supporters who are in town this week that the trip taught him a valuable lesson.

Biofuels conference starts Tuesday at Omaha’s CenturyLink Center

The National Advanced Biofuels Conference and Expo kicks off Tuesday in Omaha. Held at the CenturyLink Center Omaha, the conference and expo runs from Tuesday, Sept. 10 to Thursday, Sept. 12 and will focus on the world of biofuels and bio-based chemicals. Speakers include Mike McAdams, president of the Advanced Biofuels Association; Joe Jobe, CEO of the National Biodiesel Board; and Tim Burns, president, CEO and co-founder of BioProcess Algae in Shenandoah, Iowa.
