Oil-State Senators Push Trump on Biofuel Waivers Near Deadline

The oil industry and its Capitol Hill allies are pressing the Trump administration to defend its decision to exempt oil refineries from requirements they blend biofuels into gasoline and diesel. In Midwest, ethanol and electric vehicle advocates join forces on clean fuel plan

More than two dozen organizations have been meeting for nearly two years in Minnesota to work on a “technology-neutral” policy proposal aimed at decarbonizing transportation, which has surpassed electricity production as the state’s largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. Senate prepares to vote on big energy bill this week

The Senate is preparing to vote this week on a major piece of legislation designed to move the country toward using cleaner sources of energy. The sprawling bill binds together about 50 energy-related proposals and would touch nearly every part of the nation’s energy sector. But critics are already calling the package a hodgepodge of modest steps at a time when the planet is careening toward dangerous levels of warming and more ambitious legislation is needed to wean the world’s biggest economy off polluting fossil fuels.

A Trump Insider Embeds Climate Denial in Scientific Research

An official at the Interior Department embarked on a campaign that has inserted misleading language about climate change — including debunked claims that increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is beneficial — into the agency’s scientific reports, according to documents reviewed by The New York Times. The misleading language appears in at least nine reports, including environmental studies and impact statements on major watersheds in the American West that could be used to justify allocating increasingly scarce water to farmers at the expense of wildlife conservation and fisheries. EPA: 1.45 billion RINs generated in January

The U.S. EPA has released Renewable Fuel Standard renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for January, reporting that more than 1.45 billion RINs were generated during the month, including 454,720 cellulosic RINs. Total RIN generation for January 2020 down when compared to both the 1.79 billion RINs generated in December 2019 and the 1.49 billion RINs generated in January 2019.
