Ethanol Climbs To Highest Level In A Month On Rising Corn Price

Ethanol increased to the highest price in more than a month, rising with corn on speculation that hot, dry weather will reduce U.S. yields. Much of Illinois, Indiana, eastern Iowa and Missouri have had less than half the normal amount of rain in the past 30 days, National Weather Service data show. About 70 percent of Illinois, the biggest corn and soybean grower except for Iowa, is in moderate to extreme drought. Corn is beginning to reproduce, making this the most critical time for moisture. Branstad touts renewables at Merrill ethanol plant

“We just saw a plant in Nebraska close so we want to do all we can to help with the profitability of it and one of the big things is to have a reliable consumer demand for ethanol,” Branstad said, Retaining the federal Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS), which established the nation’s first renewable fuel mandate, is a key to the profitability of ethanol plants, the governor said.
