Ethanol increased the most since March as corn used to make the fuel rose to the highest level since November.

The biofuel gained as the most-active December corn contract surged on forecasts that dry weather will continue to the end of June for most of the Midwest, reducing yields and raising the cost of ethanol production.

Officials: ND energy policy is model for country

North Dakota’s robust and diverse energy sector can provide a model for creating jobs and help reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign oil, officials said Monday. Sen. John Hoeven and Gov. Jack Dalrymple were among the speakers at the Renewable Energy Action Summit in Bismarck. They, along with government and industry officials, said North Dakota’s energy policy has expanded traditional and renewable energy sources, advanced technology, provided certainty for developers, spurred investment and created jobs. Md. man found guilty of selling fraudulent renewable credits

A federal jury this afternoon convicted a 33-year-old Maryland man of selling $9 million worth of fraudulent renewable energy credits to brokers and oil companies and then using the money to go on “an orgy of conspicuous consumption” that included the purchase of luxury cars and high-end jewelry.
