Minnesota Corn President To Meet With EPA Administrator

Minnesota Senator Tina Smith is pressing the Environmental Protection Agency to not only stop small refiner waiver approvals but also wants the agency to come up with a plan to restore the 4 billion gallons of lost renewable fuel demand. Minnesota Corn Grower’s Association President Les Anderson says while it’s positive she’s requesting that, the main thing that must be done is for the oil refiners to obey the law which is the RFS.

He says he will have an opportunity to meet with the EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler this week and intends to put forward the major concerns of corn growers and ethanol producers.

Anderson says in order to make headway on important issues it’s critical to have one to one meetings with those involved.

Smith who’s on the Senate Agriculture Committee says the lost ethanol production has harmed demand for farm products, leading to job losses across rural America and harming the already struggling farm economy.
