Iowa delegation presses for E15 sooner

The entire Iowa congressional delegation is calling on EPA to “immediately” implement its rule allowing year-round sales of gasoline blends containing 15 percent ethanol. The agency last week finalized a long-stalled rule allowing eight Midwestern states to sell E15 during the summer months, but it delayed the implementation until 2025.

In their letter, the Iowa lawmakers say they’re “encouraged” by the EPA rule, but they “remain concerned that delaying implementation until 2025 will have devastating effects on biofuels producers, farmers, and families across the country.” The lawmakers want EPA to implement the rule to ensure E15 is available year-round no later than March 31, 2024.
