The biofuel industry doesn’t get enough respect in the debate over climate change, its main lobbying group said today. “We are not opposed to electric vehicles in any way,” Geoff Cooper, CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association, said in a call with reporters. But he said his group is pushing lawmakers and the Biden administration to give biofuel a bigger role in their ambitious proposals related to climate and transportation. Electric vehicles have their role, Cooper and other RFA representatives said as they outlined the organization’s outlook for the coming year. But biofuel industry insiders expect “ultra-low”-carbon ethanol will make the corn-based fuel mostly carbon neutral by the end of this decade, he said.
