Hogan is set to start his new gig Nov. 28 after a stint at the International Bottled Water Association, where he has been vice president of communications since 2011.
Michael Frohlich, Growth Energy’s communications director, said Hogan will fill a newly created position to help raise awareness about ethanol in the U.S. energy landscape.
Hogan also led communications and public affairs efforts at the American Gas Association for eight years before joining the IBWA, said Growth Energy.
The hire comes as industry groups await updated biofuel volume mandates from U.S. EPA, possibly to be released in November. Broader issues with the federal renewable fuel standard also continue to simmer.
The RFS faces calls for change from ethanol critics in Congress and is caught up in legal challenges, both from advocates who say EPA isn’t meeting congressional goals and from critics who say the biofuel levels go too far.
In addition to his public affairs work, Hogan has made a name for himself in men’s fashion, running a menswear blog called Off the Cuff.
Hogan is a graduate of Northeastern University and received a master’s degree in international management and business administration from the University of Maryland.
