Green Plains, the Omaha-based company that is the second-largest ethanol producer, said Tuesday that fourth-quarter profit fell on a net basis.

Net income was $46.6 million, or 99 cents a share.
That included a tax benefit of $63.9 million, $52.8 million of which was due to a revaluation of deferred tax liabilities under new U.S. corporate tax laws.

Excluding the revaluation of deferred tax liabilities, the loss was $6.2 million, or a loss per share of 16 cents.
