Governors’ Biofuels Coalition to Meet in Sioux Falls
National Political, Policy & Energy Leaders on Agenda
SIOUX FALLS, SD—Two Midwest governors and several leading authorities in the biofuels and renewable energy industry will be on hand when the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition (GBC) holds its annual meeting March 12-13, 2013, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The meeting will take place at the POET headquarters at 4615 North Lewis Avenue in Sioux Falls.
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, GBC chairman, and South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard, a GBC member, will open the meeting on Wednesday by leading a discussion of the accomplishments of the federal Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS). Governor Branstad was one of the founders of the coalition and instrumental in the passage of the RFS.
The meeting will include presentations on innovative pubic-private partnerships to expand retail infrastructure and spur economic development, the use of biofuels to cost effectively meet clean air requirements, gasoline quality, and opening markets for cellulosic and advanced biofuels.
Presentation and panel discussions will address the byproducts of biofuels production, human health issues related to vehicle exhaust emissions, ethanol infrastructure and marketing, and the evolution of the next generation of ethanol production including cellulosic.
A welcome reception will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 at Foley’s at 2507 S. Shirley Avenue in Sioux Falls. The event is open to the public, but space is limited. Reservations are required. Please RSVP Gerri Monahan (gerri.monahan@nebraska.gov) if you plan to attend.
The Governors’ Biofuels Coalition is a bipartisan group of governors and their representatives and provides regional and national leadership on biofuels policy development. For more information, visit www.governorsbiofuelscoalition.org.
