Gov. Reynolds urges President Trump to reject RFS-weakening proposals

letter to President Donald Trump on Thursday thanking him for his continued support of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and urging him to reject proposals designed to weaken or waive “this key pillar of the farm economy.” Five Midwestern governors, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb, Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer, Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts and South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard, signed on to Gov. Reynolds’ letter.
Gov. Kim Reynolds sent a “The purpose of the RFS is to grow the demand for biofuels while driving the industry to innovate,” Gov. Reynolds said. “Any effort to undermine the RFS, including putting a cap on RINs, would be devastating for Iowa farmers and Iowa’s economy.”
As a champion for Iowa’s agriculture economy, Gov. Reynolds has long been an outspoken proponent of biofuels, along with all renewable fuel sources. She’s also the current chair of the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition.
