One of the priorities of the Biden Administration focuses on climate change and achieving a path to net zero emissions. That provides a great opportunity for ethanol and all biofuels according to Nebraska Ethanol Board Administrator Roger Berry.

He says Biden’s focus goes well with enhanced ethanol usage, and now it’s critical the biofuels industry is able to overcome misconceptions about those fuels placed on them by opponents.

Berry says that one of the major problems faced by the ethanol industry has been the allowance of small refiner exemptions provided oil companies from the renewable fuel standard. He thinks that problem will go away with the new administration coming in.

Berry says 2020 has been a difficult year for ethanol producers with all the damage caused by the small refiner waivers along with the pandemic shutting down traveling leading to less fuel being used. He sees a great future however going forward for biofuels.
