Ethanol trade group Growth Energy this week hired two new members to its communications team.

Ryan Lamke will serve as communications manager, a position whose responsibilities including overseeing strategic planning and grass-roots communications. Courtney Henderson will serve as communications assistant, where she will monitor coverage of the biofuels industry and expand the group’s presence on social media, Growth Energy said in a press release.

“We are thrilled to have these two join the Growth Energy team,” CEO Tom Buis said. “Both bring a wealth of knowledge and experience.”

Lamke previously worked as an independent communications consultant to various nonprofits, including the Wounded Warrior Project. He also held positions in the government and public relations roles at various companies. He attended college at Georgetown University and is a decorated Marine Corps veteran.

Henderson previously worked as a digital media consultant and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree from the University of Michigan.

Formed in 2008, Growth Energy has been a vocal supporter of the renewable fuel standard, the federal policy mandating increasing levels of biofuels use in petroleum-based gasoline and diesel.
