With demand for oils and fats surging on growing renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production capacity, ethanol is becoming an increasingly attractive option as an SAF feedstock, a group of panelists said on Wednesday. Speaking at the National Ethanol Conference here, the SAF industry speakers discussed ethanol’s emerging viability as a feedstock given sharply higher prices for soybean oil, used cooking oil, corn oil and other lipids. Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) President and CEO Geoff Cooper, who moderated the panel, said that “five or six years ago, I could not imagine us having this conversation at the National Ethanol Conference.”
