EIA: Ethanol Production Above 1M Bpd for 17th Straight Week

PADD 2 output added 2,000 bpd last week to 918,000 bpd while 9.7% above the corresponding week a year ago.

Net refiner, blender ethanol inputs rose 24,000 bpd or 3% through Jan. 28 to 819,000 bpd, 5.3% higher than the same time in 2020.

At the East Coast PADD 1, the blending rate climbed 2.1% while PADD 2 refiners and blenders reported a 6.2% hike with the Gulf Coast PADD 3 showing a 1.5% uptick.

EIA data show PADD 1 ethanol stocks increased 588,000 barrels (bbl) to 7.503 million bbl, the highest level since March 19, 2021, while PADD 2 supply rose a sixth straight week, up 400,000 bbl to a fresh record at 10.507 million bbl.

PADD 3 ethanol stocks gained a second week, up 88,000 bbl to 4.346 million bbl as of Jan. 28, the highest level since end of April 2021, while PADD 5 inventory increased a fourth week, rising 289,000 bbl to a 3.073 million bbl better-than 20-week high.

The agency reports overall domestic ethanol supply up a fourth week, rising 1.378 million bbl to 25.854 million bbl.
