EIA: Ethanol Blending Demand Down

Midwest PADD 2 blending demand continued lower, down 5,000 bpd on the week, while Gulf Coast demand fell 4,000 bpd. For the four weeks ended July 9, EIA reports PADD 2 blending activity was at 256,000 bpd, while PADD 3 activity was 152,000 bpd.

Domestic ethanol plant production fell for the first time in four weeks, dropping 26,000 bpd or 2.4% to 1.041 million bpd. Four-week average output was at 1.053 million bpd, up 4,000 bpd from the four-week average the prior week.

EIA reported PADD 2 ethanol plant production dropped 25,000 bpd to 993,000 bpd as of July 9, the lowest level since the week ended June 11.

Total ethanol inventories dipped 15,000 bbl to 21.134 million bbl last week amid slight draws in the majority of PADDs.

East Coast PADD 1 ethanol inventories decreased 148,000 bbl to 6.593 million bbl, while Midwest PADD 2 stocks rose 155,000 bbl to 7.740 million bbl.

West Coast PADD 5 supply fell 100,000 bbl to 2.646 million bbl, and at the Gulf Coast PADD 3, stocks declined 31,000 bbl to 3.841 million bbl.
