Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds toured Quad County Corn Processors in Galva Tuesday to learn about their new cellulosic ethanol technology. Quad County recently passed the one million gallon milestone for cellulosic ethanol production using Cellerate. This was developed in partnership with Syngenta and spokesman Paul Bachman says it improves the efficiency of ethanol production.

He says with the Cellerate technology the biofuels industry has the ability to create additional cellulosic ethanol, all from corn already being processed into biofuel.

Bachman says the cellulosic production also uses corn with the Enogen enzyme. Quad County Corn Processors are currently contracting with area farmers to grow this corn at a premium of around 40-cents per bushel.
