Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Missouri Governor Jay Nixon take Coalition’s 2015 leadership positions

Governors’ Biofuels Coalition announced Thursday that Iowa Governor Terry Branstad will become chairman and Missouri Governor Jay Nixon will become vice chairman of the Coalition beginning in January 2015.

“I look forward to working with Governor Nixon to advance the bipartisan work of the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition, as the production and use of biofuels increases family incomes in rural America, diversifies our nation’s energy portfolio, and enables consumer choice at the fuel pump,” Branstad said.

“Missouri was one of the founding members of the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition, and the Coalition has played a major role in our nation’s energy policies, including the drafting and passage of the renewable fuel standards,” Nixon said.

“I’m honored to serve as the next vice chairman of this organization, and will continue working to strengthen the energy independence of Missouri and our country,” Nixon added.

Pat Quinn, Governor of Illinois, is the outgoing chairman.

“Renewable energy benefits everyone, from energy customers to farmers to anyone who breathes our air,” Illinois Governor and out going chairman Pat Quinn said. “I am proud to have served as chairman of this multi-state Coalition that aims to show the world what can be done with renewable energy. I look forward to a sustainable future for our nation.”
