A bipartisan group of 10 senators is pressing the Biden administration to use authority under the CARES Act to provide targeted relief to the biofuels industry,¬†which is still reeling¬†from the pandemic that collapsed fuel demand. In a letter Monday to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, the Midwestern senators point to funding added to the Commodity Credit Corporation under the CARES Act that the Trump administration did not utilize to help the industry. “As the Department prepares a proposal for providing assistance to the agriculture industry using CCC and other resources, we ask that you use this explicit authority to aid the nation’s biofuels industry,” wrote the senators, led by Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn).
