Beyond corn: Panel mulls future of bio-based fuels, chemicals

The House Science, Space and Technology Committee will hold a hearing this week on bioenergy.

The House Science, Space and Technology Committee this week will peek into the future of biofuels — a future that’s about more than turning corn into ethanol.

The panel will hear from experts in converting bio-based materials into energy and chemicals, including a company that converts carbon emissions into fuel and other material.

Experts at this week’s hearing have studied other means of bio-based energy that could help in addressing climate change as well.
