(Johnston)–The 2019 Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit will feature leading experts to discuss the future of biofuels policy and health benefits.

The policy outlook roundtable will address top-of-mind policy questions such as the timeline for year-round E15, ending the abuse of small-refinery exemptions, and the future of the RFS. The roundtable will include Donnell Rehagen, CEO of the National Biodiesel Board; Adam Gustafson, partner at Boyden Gray Associates; Devin Mogler, vice president of government affairs at Green Plains, Inc.; and Eric Branstad, managing director of Mercury Public Affairs’ Iowa office.

“Between the fight for year-round E15 and small-refinery exemptions from the RFS, 2018 brought biofuels and agriculture a lot of new challenges,” said Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Managing Director Lucy Norton. “This roundtable of policy experts will tackle these challenges and discuss what we can expect in 2019.”

The roundtable on environmental and health benefits of biofuels will feature Jessie Stolark, policy associate at the Environmental and Energy Study Institute, and Angela Tin, vice president of environmental health for the American Lung Association. Their discussion will seek to answer the question “How do your fuel decisions impact our environment?”

“The fact of the matter is, petroleum fuel is full of dangerous chemicals while ethanol and biodiesel are clean burning, better for human health, and better for our environment,” Norton said. “These experts will provide Summit attendees with insight on the health and environmental risks their fuel choices pose and how biofuels can help.”

The Summit is free to attend and open to the public. Registration is required. The last day to preregister is January 25, 2019. The Summit will take place at the Meadows Conference Center at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
